The Rockwell Fire Department is a municipal combination department that serves the Town of Rockwell in the Southeastern part of Rowan County.  We have one station that covers the two square miles of the town limits, but we also assist our Mutual Aid partners within their districts.  Our Department responds to a variety of incidents that include: Fire, Medical, Hazardous Materials, and Motor Vehicle Accidents.  As a combination department, we currently have a Full-Time Firefighter, a dozen Part-Time personnel, and Volunteers that provide coverage 24/7/365.  We are currently seeking dedicated people to fill Part-Time and Volunteer positions.

A "Knox Box" Provides Us With Immediate Access


We participate in the Knox Box program that offers the fire department the ability to reduce damage to a structure during an incident.  A Knox Box is a tamper proof metal box that is anchored to an exterior wall.  A key is securely placed inside the box that opens the doors to the structure.  The fire department is the only one that has the key to open the Knox Box.  We have the ability to open the door instead of forcing entry into a house/commercial structure.  This can be due to smoke visible that might just be over cooked food, or due to an elderly patient that fell and is not able to open the door.

SMOKE DETECTORS ARE LIFE SAVERS

We provide assistance to the elderly to help install new smoke detectors that they provide.  We are currently seeking a grant to provide smoke detectors to those that are located in our poorest areas.  Additional information will be provided once we have received specific details of the program.   As a reminder, please check your smoke detector often to make sure that it is in proper working order.

Free Blood Pressure Checks


We provide free blood pressure checks at the fire station at 116 S. Cherry St. (map) during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
