Employment

Part-time
The following are the requirements for the position of Part-Time Firefighter.  The applicant must have obtained the Firefighter certification and currently hold an EMT-B certification.  All applicants must go through a background check prior to job offer.  Part-Time Firefighters are paid every two weeks on an hourly basis.  Shifts are flexible to accommodate those with full time jobs.  Day time shifts are normally 0800-1700 or 0900-1700.  Night time shifts consist of 1800-0600 or 2200-0700.  The maximum amount of hours per week is 32 hrs.

Additional duties other than just running calls are required.  They consist of: Apparatus Checks, sweeping, mopping, cleaning the bathrooms, taking out the trash, and other assigned duties.  Other assigned duties may include but not limited to: Hydrant maintenance, Hydrant testing, and Pre-plans.
Volunteer
Volunteers still play an important part in the operation of the Rockwell Fire Department.  The Volunteer applicant must be 18 years of age, have a valid North Carolina driver’s license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and live within 5 miles of the town limits.  All volunteer applicants must go through a background check.  Volunteers are currently reimbursed per call and done so on a quarterly basis.  Volunteers are required to maintain a minimum of thirty-six hours of training per year.  All volunteers are encouraged to obtain the certifications of Firefighter and EMT-B.

The process starts with downloading, printing, and filling out the application.  Return the application along with $5 for the background check to the Fire Department or to the Town Hall.  After the background check has been processed, the officers will review the application and interview the applicant.  Please allow at least 30 days for the background check to be processed.
Monthly Meetings
Meetings are at 19:00 hrs. (7:00 p.m.)
1st Tuesday is EMT Continuing Education
2nd Tuesday is Regular Business meeting
3rd Tuesday is the Officers meeting
4th Tuesday is Training
